un-inspiring reviews

ok, just a short one. i was the one who got excited and started the whole review-writing, i should be conscientious enough to keep it up and finish it to the end. great. i solemnly promise not to be lazy again.

right. so, the final 3 films at SIFF:

>> Wilby Wonderful: totally hilarious! the little town and its eccentric towners on Wilby island were certainly entertaining and provided a good laugh for everyone. Depressed Dan only has suicide thoughts on his mind all day long and the repeatedly but fateful interception from Duck MacDonald added to the whole funny laugh. turn out, the big joke was they became gays. that easy huh!
rating: 9 out of 10

>> Tokyo Noir: hmm...what can i say? the show was basically just trying to address the contemporary Japanese women living in Tokyo, through unspoken ideas of sexuality shown through 3 stories. my order of preference on the films are: 2nd story - focused on a Japanese student working as sex worker; 1st story - on a woman with repressed libido who find freedom of expression by way of masks which she hides her true identity; 3rd story - about a woman who blogs her sexual experiences as a diary on the web. but overall, i didnt really like the vague expression from the storylines.
rating: 6.5 out of 10

>> Tropical Malady: the best way to kill my enthusiasm on the whole film festival is to end it with a senseless show like this one. nam, if u read this, i think u're right on the shoe-string budget movie part. i say this is definitely one. first part of the story was ok but it didnt blend well at all with the second and the director, sad to say, didnt managed to do a beautiful job on trying to use the jungle as a cosmical representation of the tangle of the two actors' mutual love.
rating: 5.5 out of 10

see, told u it would be short, didnt i? this is the best i could write. the last show killed my inspiration.
