only 3/4 way to finish unpacking my luggage, and i duno how i ended sitting in front of my pc, switched on the mains and logged on! hahah... my 1st habit whenever i get home from a trip is to pour out all the dirty clothes and send them to the laundry. sorry ma! hehee..
depending where u go, but usually when u decided on a trip and say u wana go and just relax, have fun and recharge urself, u will almost always end up being more tired and then sweating the small stuffs, like trying to stuff urself with alot of food and then shopping like crazy... and finally, at the end, u'll be so exhausted from all the walking and broke from all the splurging. isnt it?
3 days at genting (2 and 1/2 to be precise)... this time's really a rest and relax trip. the weather is cool (all year round also. haha) and all we did is just to travel up, drive on the road, leisurely relax, nothing to rush, no deadlines to meet! mmm... =)
there isnt any real huge shopping malls or shopping streets over there, basically we stayed at Genting Resort hotel, so the biggest shopping area we did was First World.. where we eat, drink, walk, shop and buy. so, maybe that's why i was able to spend my vacation with ease. i kept seeing baskin robbins almost everywhere we go, and everytime i said i wana eat it, i ended not having any bcoz it was too cold up there. ok, i mean it wasnt that cold, just average temp of 24.9C but i was just feeling cold.. so sigh.. nope, i didnt get to eat any! btw, singapore dun have it, that's why i keep saying i wana eat it. now, im starting to feel i should have just gone ahead with it anyway. darn.
anywayz, the 1st nite, we took about 8hrs to get there! wow. in between with quite a number of stopovers for breaks and drank a lot of water so, it's the nature's call to take a leak also. but we also got lost on our way from KL onwards.. wasted at least 2hrs before we got back onto the right track. by the time we reached was 6.30am in the morning.. *SUPER YAWN* it was mega packed at the hotel.. wow.. so many people also choose to spend the short vacation at genting. i think most of them must be there for the casinos. it was super crowded, super noisy and alot of commotion going in the lobby. everyone's just queuing and waiting to check into their own rooms, including us. arrrrrghhh! check in time for us was 1.30pm! bcoz of the crowd. can u imagine? we were already worn out and all we need is just a bed and maybe a pillow, but the last thing we want to find out is that their computer system queued us in the 1.30 timing. no choice then, go and have some breakfast before we decide what next.
breakfast at the hotel cafeteria. it wasnt exactly in the hotel, it was more like a carpark cafeteria.. maybe is for their staff, but we went there anyway. took roti prati and coffee. prata was nice, just a bit oily but too much sugar in the coffee though. after breakfast, we explored the grounds around the hotel vicinity and that's how we discovered the shopping area at first world (also alot of casinos!), which was actually linked with our hotel building. we walked around just a bit coz we were all tired and we decided to go back to the car and take a nap. that's a mistake. hahah.. coz we slept in the car for about 2hrs.. and caused the car to stall bcoz we turned on the aircon without running the engine.. wonder how much carbon monoxide we'd inhaled...and the brain damage on us. oh no.. hope it doesnt add any more damages to my poor memory! what happen to the car? oh, we got the hotel staff for help of course and they sent their mechanic to service it for us. hahha..
repair in progress
so, moving on to talk about other stuffs. the tempura soba i ate at sushi king was really delicious! texture was just nice and smooth when u eat it. yumm.. have never eaten any noodles that delicious from singapore. are chefs here so lousy?
yummy soba @ sushi king
tried kenny rogers too. expected it to be as good as the standard of the sushi king, but kinda dissappointing. their standard is.. just so-so compared to singapore's. we took the cable car (awana sky train) to look at the night view of genting.
cool. it was breathtaking.
it's amazing how they actually built all the genting hotels so high up above sea level, on the mountains! we couldnt imagine how they had to build the towers, connect all the cable wires, and finally install the sky trains so tourists like us can get to see the whole place from sky view.
high above clouds
we treated ourselves to a good meal on the last nite at a pub restaurant called "safari disco". wow, never knew peanut and mayo sauce could taste so heavenly! i ordered the marinated prawn served with peanut mayo sauce (the dish came with the rice). but, the sauce was too good! i finished all of it. think they also put in some tobasco to spice up the taste abit, and it only made it taste better. wonder if i can actually try to imitate the recipe on my own one day?
they had a live band in the restaurant too. i was simply very entertained, i think more amused by one of the female dancers throughout the nite. she looked sexy enough, that's true.. but more vampy i think. but she also evoked alot of mixed feelings and thoughts in me -- first was entertainment, she wore this half transparent black top where u could see through, just her tummy, where a tattoo sits on the left. then was amusement.. she simply made me giggle alot coz of the way she dance.. i think i have to say this: she dance badly and uglily. for the fact that she's a performer, i would have expected a more gracefully or at least more coordinated dance moves in tune with the music or rest of the band members. but, she's just kinda into her own world, dancing like she's jogging on the tread mill or in a aerobics class for beginners. then the rest of the feelings i had were all mixed and jumbled up -- surprised, shocked, amused, unbelievable, more amusement, then shake my head.. etc etc. suddenly she was swinging her head like insane or like she's been possessed by a demonic spirit or maybe like she just swallowed a bottle of ecstasy pills and it's now taking effect on her. her hair's long and it has some waves in it so it's not all straight, and that makes her look really scary when she vigorously swings her head and flips her hair around so forcefully and so much that she look like Sadako when she tried to face the audience from the behind the bush of messy, untidy and huge pile of tangled hair that's covering the whole of her face. my gawd.. i duno.. i think i was just.. giggling, then i laughed, then i shook my head and continued to enjoy the entertaining band that's live on stage.
of course, we went to the theme parks at genting too. that's the whole purpose of the trip. spent almost a full day there and well, probably not going into some of the details, becoz u know.. theme parks are just about the same almost in many other places. but the very fun ones i tried were ferris wheel (haha.. just for fun. what's a theme park without ferris wheels, rite?), spinner, corkscrew, flying dragon and gold mine train (cant rember the actual name of this).
at nite, we went to check out the casinos. it was a real eye opener for me even though i wasnt a gambler and couldnt understand at all anything that the people played. but, it was so huge i couldnt believe my eyes... and i never realised how one casino could be linked with so many other, and then another, and another from inside the "den".. they're all so connected.. one leads to more, and u get a bigger and much more crowded one as u walked further inside the place.. we almost lost our way on my way out. can u believe? now i understand why casinos are such money-spinning tools for anyone who owns the business.
ok.. enough with so much blogging.. wow, so long. im kinda lazy to upload photos now. will probably furnish with some photos again.
now, to rest myself and continue with unpacking, plus dinner and watch my tv drama.
selemat datang! = welcome! i think i wanted to tell myself welcome home! but i ended up with only "welcome", which happens to be the one of the few words i know in melayu. hahhaa...
