agnes tells me to update my blog. hmm... i thought the last one wasn't too long ago??!!?
anyway, here's one.
we were supposed to go out and celebrate mother's day today. but alas. thanks to my 2nd bro... all plans foiled. that fool! hmpf.
we had planned for a sumptuous lunch outside today. i think my mum was quite excited about it.
but then, bro called and said he and wife be home late. duhhh. ok, lunch became dinner. it was raining heavily this morning. and they say rainy day can make one lazy and tired more easily. i think it's quite true. while waiting for bro to come home, i somehow found my own way to the bed - i fell asleep. by the time bro finally reached home, it was already 1730.
then, change of plans again. he brought work back home and forced his dear siblings to help him out. he was supposed to mark his students' school assignments, but, obviously, the better reason is to be lazy and make use of his dear brother and sister's extra brains and hands. count him lucky he's got 2 very helpful and caring siblings, who both although very unwilling, still gave all their support to him.
so all 4 of us sat together on the living room floor and spent the evening reading through and grading stacks of papers. but, it was fun because as we grow up, occasions like these become rare and this is one of those where we could really sit together, and while watching tv, we chit chatted and laughed at funny jokes.
so, dinner outside was out. worse still, ma had to cook for us in the end.
if i can feel that bit of disppointment because of all the delays and changes and finally all plans were cancelled, i can sort of understand my mum would have felt much more than me.
coincidentally, it's ma's birthday too tomorrow and today was supposed to be a double celebration.
i shouldn't be the one feeling guilty, but still, i suggested that we should all get ma a cake at the very least and we can still do a small celebration at home.
if u are thinking about who went out to buy then yes, u might have guessed it correctly that it had to be me coz i was the one who came up with the idea. luckily, sis-in-law and pa gladly accompanied me. of course, i paid for the cake too. why do i suggest things to burn my own pocket.
when we returned home, dinner was almost ready. wow. what a spread. ma might have suspected we went out to get her something. it probably explains this big spread of dishes. hahha.
look at what're the dishes on the dinner menu tonite:
- minced meat spaghetti (1 big plate)
- sweet corn (generous amounts of serving)
- green beans (generous amounts too)
- fried chicken cutlets (3 huge pieces each)
- baked potatos (take all u can)
- baked carrots (eat all u like)
- mini tomatoes (same as above)
desserts:
- homemade yam paste (ai xin brand)
- delicious mouth-watering Lemon Cheesecake Bliss ice-cream by Nestle (yum yum! really goooood!!!)
- new flavour mocha cake by Bengawan Solo (not too sweet.. with a slight bitter taste that's nice)
wow.
i thought my tummy was going to burst. i've got a strong feeling that all the jogging i did last friday had gone to waste.
it's a wonderful night. who says you have to eat out on occasion like this? i prefer to live it this way.
happy mother's day.

sounds like the meal can last for days! i'm not into big meals, but i do like to take my time when i'm eating. i eat so slow that people around me are usually on their 2nd or 3rd helping when i'm just finishing up my first helping!
