> fri. 10 june.
agnes, lily and i went for dinner and drinks tonite. sorry they had to wait for me because i was totally held up at work and by the time we finally met was already 8pm.
it started to rain.. heavily. luckily, i had my bro's car to drive. guess the only time i'll appreciate having a car to drive around is only when i want to find convenience and during rainy days like tonite.
we had dinner at siglap and laughed so much. lily and i were super gigglish that night. agnes still wasn't feeling too well after almost a week's torture of diarrhoea attack. but we still laugh loudly all the same.
it hasn't been raining a single drop for the past week.
the heavy rain didnt sustain for very long and stopped quite soon.
but it made the sky clear up after that
the clouds moved away
and uncurtained a sky full of stars.
it was just beautiful.
we went on to coffeebean for drinks, stayed there and chatted till way past midnight.
it has been a long and busy week. plus a long day at work, i guess it's only normal we were all tired by the time it hit 3am.
we decided to head home.
that's when nightmare strikes.
we lost our way when sending agnes home.
it's embarrasing to tell people we lost our way in my hometown. the land is so small.. but we lost our way anyway. hahhah..
but hey, who's fault is it not to recognise the way home? the person behind the wheels couldn't have been the one to know the way, right?
i think a 30mins drive home turned out to be more than an hour.
it was really a long, long journey that night... past 3am in the morning...
the road up ahead looks especially far and uncertain...
it felt like home was so far away.
and...
just when we thought we finally managed to come close to the perimeters of the destination,
there has to be a road block!
traffic police are carrying out routine checks on the road, stopping cars and checking for any suspicious or illegal characters.
seriously, i thought initially it was just a road divert. it guess they tried to luminate the road, but u know how blinding it was on the eyes especially when they set up so many spot lights in different colours along the way that leads to the barrier.
i guess also partly bcoz my brain wasn't able to respond too quickly at almost 4am in the morning.
i almost sped pass the barrier!
luckily, instincts took better control of me and i slowed and stepped the breaks just in time.
i can't have imagined what would i do if the whole fleet of police cars giving chase to me only to find out that i didnt stop over because i had thought it was just normal road diversion.
what if i slam the accelerators out of panic and tried to flee? disaster.
the usual lines from drama scenes comes alive:
"turn off your engine, take out your identity, and get out from the car," the police officer said.
panic. hands trembling.. legs shaking.. heart pumping so hard.
felt like i just gulped down 5 tequilla pop in a row.
first experience in a road block. should it be exciting or panic?
feels high. hahhahah.
"all of you get out from the car," he added.
they took down our particulars and reminded me that i should stop the car if i ever see any road blocks in the future. well, i would have been able to see much clearly if you guys didnt try to set up this whole thing at 4am in the morning when everyone's eyes are tired and blinded from the red-blue-white spots lights. agnes had to ask us if she could take photos of the police... kidding me. no way. i dun think i wana spend my nite behind bars! spare me...
and when u thought the first experience was exciting...
here comes the 2nd road block... yes, in a single nite, i bumped into 2 road blocks!
wat? wat is this? am i lucky or wat?
never encountered any road blocks before, now they all come together!
once bitten twice shy. this time i was on full alert to stop my car right in front of the barrier!
we drove past slowly, but safely and steadily, without a hitch. phew....
sending lily home was a much easier task... smooth journey all the way! we both live in the east area of the island, maybe that makes it easier.
by the time i reached home, it was already 5am.
tired...
it was fun.
it was also a long but exciting night....
