a pirate's adventure

One Piece, one of my favourite mangas (japanese comics) besides doraemon and many others. it's a big hit in japan and very popular among kids. i first read the manga more than 3, 4 years ago, and the story sort of just took me with it, till now. but i only began fervently reading up and watching both its comic books and cartoon series last year.

the story is about Monkey D. Luffy, who as a kid, vowed to become the King of Pirates. Eating the Gum-Gum Fruit gives him strange powers but also invokes the fruit's curse: anybody who consumes it can never learn to swim. When Luffy grew up, he became the captain of a ship and together with his new found crew mate Roronoa Zoro, master of the three-sword fighting style, they sail the Seven Seas of swashbuckling adventure in search of the elusive legendary treasure "One Piece." They were soon joined by 4 other members, who each have their own set of unique strengths and weaknesses and the quest for the treasure begins!


(the six of them. see the "X" mark on all their left hands? it's a buddy symbol they'd came up with so that they'll recognise and not lose each other during times of danger. ee...so nice~!)

it's amazing... and such stories cast a strong spell on me... adventure seeking, risk taking.. treasure hunt! a story about about not being afraid to go out to pursue your own aspirations.. believing in and not afraid to be a little idealistic and live that dream! it's a wonderful adventure!

what triggered this post, i guess was bcoz i got this gift from my fren today. she's down with chicken pox so i made a trip to her house to help her get some stuff that she needs to pass to her colleague at work. i took the risk! of being infected with the virus!(no lah, im not that noble. read on) coz i've not had chicken pox even at this age... (it's the age thing again!?) the first thought that came to my mind was: ha. i want to get some of this pox pox so that i'll have viral immunity protection for life! (who told me that?!??) hmm.. hahah.. i said i dun mind contracting it and asked my fren to rub some of her pox juices on me.. eeeww..yucks. all of my frens whom i spoke to simply gave me a wat-nonsense-do-u-think-u-are-trying-to-do kind of expression and funny-looking question marks just appear hanging above their heads as if im quite keen to be infected. well, not dat im trying to court death (it wont cause death for goodness sake), but, i think, let's just say i was trying to escape from some things which im not particularly looking forward to.. and i thought maybe by coming down with this pox thing i would be able to get away with it.


my fren bought this for me when she went to japan..and it's her 3rd time there; she love that country... mesmerised, very mesmerised. hahah..! she'd got one for herself and had a hard time looking around for it during her last trip, and i said i wanted to have one too! coz i really like it! the famous pirate skull symbol in One Piece. it's pretty cool! but didnt expected her to really get it for me until i was looking through the whole bag of things that she passed it to me. the fact is coz u wont be able to get it from anywhere in singapore and it's hard to find it in its original packaging even in japan. i'd searched for it in taiwan when i was there for a short holiday few months ago, and i couldnt find it! but hey, she did managed to find afterall! whheeee! thanks!! nah... she dun read blogs but i still love this gift! it's a handphone accessory... and u'll find it hanging on my mobile very soon!

come to think of it, i wouldnt mind risking some pox for this skull! hahha...
